Other Info:

Ashwagandha is a perennial shrub in the nightshade family and has been used in Ayurveda for 1000’s of years. In herbal medicine, Ashwagandha root is used because the rest of the plant is an important source of food in India. Ashwagandha roughly translates to “horse smell” which is fairly accurate because of its smell!

Ashwagandha is normally cultivated in India, we source ours from a grower in Oregon because they supply a superior quality product. It costs more, but it makes a better product and is good for our planet!

In Ashwagandha, the main phytochemical constituents are withanolides which are triterpene lactones along with numerous alkaloids. The make up of Ashwagandha is similar to that of Ginseng, resulting in many referring to Ashwagandha as “Indian ginseng “.
